What is JLPT?
The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is the largest-scale Japanese language test in the world. It is held twice a year in Japan and selected overseas locations.
The JLPT evaluates and certifies Japanese-language proficiency for non-native speakers, covering language knowledge, reading ability, and listening ability.
Since 1984, the JLPT has been offered by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (formerly Association of International Education, Japan) as a test to measure and certify the Japanese-language proficiency of those whose native language is not Japanese.
JLPT Levels
The JLPT has five levels: N1, N2, N3, N4, and N5. The easiest level is N5 and the most difficult level is N1.
