Expresses that while one situation might be understandable, the current one is not. "I don't know about A, but B..." (e.g., 子供ならいざ知らず、大人がそんなことを言うのは恥ずかしい。 - I wouldn't know about a child, but it's embarrassing for an adult to say such things.)
